5 Golf Destinations You Can’t Miss

March 23, 2022 by Padre & Marco Leave a Comment

Since 2016, the popularity of golf has done nothing but flourish.

In just a five-year growth period, the number of golfers went from 61.6 million in 2012 to 66.6 million in 2021. That’s an astounding number of people—five-and-a-half million—to take up the sport in such a short amount of time.

After experiencing a period of decline, these statistics show that golf is back in business.

If you’ve landed here today, you’re looking for the best golf destinations the world has to offer. Perhaps you’re planning a golfing trip with your buddies or you’re looking to make a work trip in your future more exciting. If that sounds like you, keep reading for some top spots that need to be on your radar.

1. Kohler, Wisconsin

Kohler, Wisconsin—home to the famous Blackwolf Run golf course—features four championship golf courses in one, allowing you to check off several exciting locations at once. That’s because Kohler has hosted its fair share of championships: three PGAs, two US Women’s Opens, one US Senior Open, and the Ryder Cup.

Pete Dye is the famous designer behind many of the notable courses.

2. Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is home to two of the world’s best golf courses—the Royal County Down and the Royal Portrush, aka “the Royals.”

Royal County Down is host to Walker Cup, while the Royal Portrush is the Open Championship venue: two reasons of many for the courses’ notoriety. Their proximity to each other also makes it possible to visit both on one golf trip. Additionally, Northern Ireland is home to the oldest clubhouse in the world.

Did we mention it’s an incredibly beautiful place to play? Schedule a northern Ireland golf tour today; you won’t regret it!

3. Pebble Beach, California

If you’ve ever wanted to golf beachside, Pebble Beach, California—located in the Monterey Peninsula—is one of the most awe-inspiring places to do so.

Pebble Beach Golf Links is one legendary course, but the city is home to many. It’s been voted the number-one public golf course in America (as well as the number-one course in America).

From sand dunes and pine trees to shorelines and cliffs, it’s hard to beat the views offered here.

4. St Andrews, Fife, Scotland

This location—cited as the “Home of Golf”—offers one of the most historical (and playable) layouts in the entire world!

It’s the largest public golf complex in Europe, featuring no less than seven famous courses.

Perhaps the most well-known of the seven is the Old Course, one of the oldest in the world, where golfers have been playing the game since the 15th century.

5. Augusta, Georgia

If you’ve ever watched The Masters, you’ve seen the Augusta, Georgia, golf courses.

For one week every year, Augusta holds one of the most famous tournaments in golf—the Masters. When it’s not doing that, it’s still giving the public much to offer: one of the trendiest courses in the US, thanks to design efforts by Donald Ross as well as the Arnold Palmer Company.

If you find yourself playing here, you’ve played where many of the greats have once stood, including Bobby Jones.

These Golf Destinations Are On-Par
