What to Do on a Weekend in St. Albert, Alberta

October 18, 2022 by Padre & Marco Leave a Comment

Looking at St Albert homes for sale is not unusual, as the city is a great place to live.

There are excellent schooling options for people raising families, low crime rates, and plenty of job opportunities.

Add to this the natural beauty and St. Albert is a home run.

But what if you’re just there to visit on the weekends? There’s plenty to see and do, no matter what you’re into.

St. Albert’s Farmers Market

This is the largest outdoor farmers’ market in Western Canada, attracting upwards of 20,000 people each season.

It runs on Saturdays from June to October and has over 270 vendors. They sell everything from locally grown produce to handmade crafts.

There’s even an indoor Christmas market that runs for the four Saturdays leading up to the holiday.

St. Albert Botanic Park

It’s free admission for this stunning park, making it accessible to everyone.

The five-acre park opened in 1992. There are five themed gardens that cover the areas of shade, xeriscape, flowering trees, evergreens, and cottage-style perennials.

The park is entirely operated by volunteers who are happy to share stories of the park and its history.

There are special events throughout the year like the Mother’s Day Weekend Rose Sale, Canada Day Strawberry Tea, and Christmas in October in the Gift Shop.

The Enjoy Centre

A garden and a retail center may seem like an odd combination, but it’s a mixture done beautifully at The Enjoy Centre.

This combination greenhouse and retail area has a whole foods market with local fare, an olive oil-centric store, and a bakery. And that’s just the food side of things.

There is a spa and yoga centre, daycare, and pop-up shops.

There are two retail garden centers to get fresh floral displays or a houseplant to take home.

Century Casino

This gambling haven is a premiere entertainment facility with over 400 slot machines and gaming tables. There is free live entertainment every week and many places to stop at for a bite to eat.

Art Gallery of St. Albert

Spend an afternoon interpreting contemporary and community pieces from local artists.

You can also enjoy the artistic experience firsthand through the gallery’s award-winning, curriculum-based educational programs for children and young adults.

St. Albert Dinner Theatre

Want a show with your meal? The Dinner Theatre is an interactive night out filled with intrigue and mystery that invites diners to be a part of the action.

The theatre runs three plays a season with nine performances of each.

Servus Credit Union Place

This leisure and fitness space covers 320,000 square feet. There are over 25 water features including a lazy river, waterslides, and spaces for aquatic aerobic classes.

The fitness and wellness center is full of state of the art machines for all your exercising needs. There’s also a 270-meter indoor track for training, two field houses, and a large gymnasium.

The children’s playground will keep little ones entertained, and there’s even a daycare center to drop them off at if you need a little me time.
